Winter impact on shelters
I wanted to do a quick writing about how the weather has impacted the shelter I'm staying at, specifically the snow hitting the ground we went from 80 of us to 150+. they're arranged the front so it could fit more beds packed everyone in there, that overflow is flowing over they are filling the hallways now with cots. Is it worth to feel like there is not enough space or food here for all this? They have 6 showers 2 washers two dryers and 12 bathrooms 150+ girls is a scary number for the limited amount of resources. not that those women don't deserve to use them either. There are only 2 women's shelters and two kinda coed shelters and by coed they are mainly men's shelters with some women, and those shelters are filled with questionable instances that I'm not able to put on this blog without a tw warning. Maybe also opt in for a hospital shelter where nurses and doctors go for people who maybe need more care and hospital help, because they flow into the shelters and get kicked out for behaviors they can't control mainly they go to the hospital but they don't stay more than a night since some of them are addicted to drugs.
We have one lady who has bed sores on her back and is wheelchair bound and cries and screams in pain during the day and at night because of it yet refuses help because she feels they are going to hurt her in the hospital. She also goes through withdrawals from her medicine and her use of drugs, her body's in a huge shutdown mode and coming down I only know these things about her she also wants a friend i wont be filling that role.Anyway my anxiety has gone up because this morning 6 people thought they had food poisoning but really they didn't wash the dishes correctly and left some soap in the egg tray and 6 people got sick. Before you say anything I've been wasting my food stamps because I'm scared to eat shelter food because it's NOT GOOD thanksgiving was delicious but how convenient the next day people get sick yikes...thats shelter life
